CPTED
Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design or CPTED (pronounced sep-ted), as it is more commonly known is a proven set of design principles that are internationally recognized and used by planners, designers, police officers, security professionals, academics, educators, retailers and others, to reduce the fear and incidence of crime as well as improve the quality of life. CPTED principles are extremely versatile and cost effective when applied at the design stage. CPTED principles have been adopted by many North American police services, municipalities and planning departments.

Although the CPTED Professional Training Centre was recently formed, the founders Wayne Nishihama and Tom McKay have been instrumental in the CPTED movement in Ontario and have been training professionals since 1992. Tom, a crime prevention officer with Peel Regional Police and known as Canada's foremost CPTED instructors, will instruct the courses. While, Wayne will assist Tom on the courses and provide a design perspective to CPTED.
in addition, we will bring other professionals with valued expertise in the field of security, design, planning and policing, to assist in the courses.
All courses will be held in the Corporate Event Centre at the Centre for Health and Safety Innovation (CHSI) in Mississauga, Ontario. For our out of town students, the Residence Inn by Marriot Mississauga Airport Corporate Centre is conveniently located within a short walking distance to the Corporate Event Centre at CHSI.
